The 12th September 2026 saw 15 Provinces with 100 shooters from across the United Kingdom travel to Dartford to take part in the 2026 Masonic National Clay Shooting Championships.
This year the Province of Cornwall provided a team of 8 to participate, after an overnight stay enjoying good food and beverages we went to the shooting ground where we were greeted with a bacon roll, tea and coffee. This gave us the chance to meet up with fellow shooters from other Provinces we had not seen for 12 months and a chance for those that had not been before to meet new friends and soak in the atmosphere.
After a briefing we were off and the competition began. A 100-target course was set over 12 stands, the competition was tough, both from our fellow competitors as well as the targets themselves, but it was the same for everyone. Banter was not in short supply which demonstrated the camaraderie among our fellow shooters.
After the shoot and while the scores were being calculated we enjoyed lunch, more banter, raffle and prize giving. Provincial Grand Master Andrew Waddington congratulated all the shooters that took part.
Over £4,000 was raised for the chosen Charity which was Tommy's.
This year The Province of Cornwall came away with our heads held high coming second to Surrey, congratulations to Surrey.
The 2027 Masonic Nationals will be held a little closer to home in the Mendips. The Cornwall Provincial Shooting Society will be attending with high hopes to bring the Silverware back to Cornwall.
Top Guns from our magnificent 8 were (our Captain) Martin Peak of Eliot Lodge 1164, Aaron Jones of Towan 9684 and Zak Johnson of Phoenix Lodge of Love Honor and Prudence 331.
