A Welcome Message from the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent
In 1813, when the Antient and Modern Grand Lodges united to form the United Grand Lodge of England, they declared that “Pure Antient Masonry” consists of three degrees—Entered Apprentice, Fellow Craft, and Master Mason—together with the Royal Arch. This declaration remains at the forefront of our Book of Constitutions.
The Craft degrees symbolically chart a Mason’s intellectual and moral development from birth through life to a figurative death. The Royal Arch, as the natural climax of that journey, encourages deeper contemplation of eternity and one’s relationship with the Creator. It is here that the Genuine Secrets lost in the Third Degree are rediscovered, completing the journey through Pure Ancient Freemasonry.
When you’re ready to take that fourth step, speak to your Lodge Chapter Representative, or contact us directly at RAChapter@pglcornwall.org.uk. Not all Lodges have their own Chapters, but we will help you find one that suits you. Every Master Mason is encouraged to continue the journey through Exaltation—and we look forward to welcoming you into this beautiful and enriching Order.
Excellent Companion Jonathan Arnold, Grand Superintendent
